hi folks
this group is receiving a lot of images every day but actually we could need some fresh air in terms of interaction between artists.
this has never been a very good place to just showcase work because this is a small group, but it has proven to be an excellent place for close interaction between members. good example of this is our "gnome-party" a collab-activity that yielded pretty impressive results. we had some months where our "monthly topic" produced a variety of amazing entries. lately i have been occupied with so much work that my deviantart activity was drastically reduced and as a result this group started to wither. most new members just sign up an send in some images without further involvement. i guess the group feature on deviantart generally is kind of a slow burn- many groups are just "image dumps"- and i confess i also like to "dump" images into groups and just yield the comments and views on my deviations...
well, i wont change that fact and i´m very fine with our small and comfy MindfulTriphammer group- BUT i would like to see it slightly more useful and busy.
lots of our core members are professional "old farts" that have their own stuff going on and little time left to "play". like me- but actually i miss the playful topics we used to paint here. so blablabla .... lets get to work
i might add that this group is supposed to be a platform for us illustrators and concept artists to interact - so i encourage all members to drop comments, upload images, painting processes, sketches and ask questions.
for our next WorkShop :
Atmospheric Monsters
i remember back in the 80´s when i went to school the world seemed to be pretty much explored and there was little mystery left. people were so arrogant to say that there was nothing more to explore- it was boring because the whole world-view was so materialistic and close minded. i had some teachers that thought a bit different but mainly it was just that.
nowadays things changed a little and the mysterious and "out of this world" is gaining terrain again.
nowadays everything seems to be possible and many things that were considered crazy back then are normal today. history of humanity has to be rewritten and our whole society suddenly seems to be more open to explore new realms.
we know that our Oceans are full of unknown life-forms, some of them living in extreme conditions. but when we talk about the sky above our heads we are much more skeptical in accepting unexplained phenomena. Mainstream media trained us to ridicule any "unknown flying object" as a flying saucer from planet mars. but what if some of the unexplained phenomena observed by so many people are actually atmospheric monsters ? creatures that inhabit the sky, mostly invisible to our eyes, camouflaged between the clouds and endless blue.
read this article to get an idea what i´m talking about :
mysteriousuniverse.org/2011/07…i propose that we create monsters that match the descriptions given in the article or create new creatures in this lines. here is a good example for inspiration from our genius old fart-contributer Davesrightmind
so yeah, this is basically a creature design exercise. be free to do several different sky-beasts or just concentrate on one. i´ll set up a gallery-folder where everybody can drop their results.
happy sky-beast painting !!!
